The carnival is coming to Pasadena! Well, almost. Though you aren’t able to ride this stunning menagerie of carousel animals, you’re invited to see them up close in full majestic glory at the Pasadena Museum of History.

Pasadena Museum of History Guest Curator Lourinda Bray began collecting carousel animals inspired by her love of the horses as a child. “Riding on a carousel has always been my happiest childhood memory,” says Bray of her growing collection. “I saw another [horse] I just had to have, then another.”

Bray’s extensive collection of carousel art ranges from the mid-19th century to present day and includes miniatures, posters and postcards that evoke the nostalgia of childhood memories at a carnival and excite adults and children alike. This exhibit is fun for the whole family—adults and kids will discover majestic creatures including horses, lions, elephants, giraffes and sea serpents from all over the world including the U.S., Europe, England and Mexico. Bray says, “I hope people will enjoy the beautiful colors and carvings, and remember their own memories of happy times with their families.”

Wed.-Sun., 12 p.m.-5 p.m. Tickets $0-$7. Pasadena Museum of History, 470 W. Walnut St., Pasadena, CA 91103 or pasadenahistory.org.
