Metro Bike Share Branches out to Pasadena

Set out and start pedaling! Pasadena is now the second city to gain Metro’s newest green transit idea: bike sharing.

By Morgan Stephens

Metro and Bicycle Transit Systems have teamed up to embrace Metro Bike Share Program with stations docked at locations designed to make commuting to work or taking a casual ride around the neighborhood accessible for anyone. No more bumper – to – bumper traffic in your car when bike share makes it easy to hop on and get to where you’re going.

The Metro Pasadena Bike Share Program will have 400 bicycles at 34 dock stations around the Pasadena area with dock points, or bike parking spots, in proximity to community resources such as Caltech, Pasadena City College, Metro Gold Line Stations and Old Town just to name a few. It’s $3.50 for 30 minutes, or you can purchase a monthly pass for $20 per month with unlimited 30 mins rides.

Pasadena, having already established itself as a bicycle-friendly city in the early ‘70s with the Foothill Freeway Construction Project, developed over 12 miles of designated bikeways and more than 1,000 bike racks for community members to enjoy riding as well as promote safety. Now with Metro Bike Share entering Phase 2 of the Regional Bike Share Program, Pasadena is ready to embrace the innovative idea, and welcome Metro Bike Share to the neighborhood.
