For over a decade, Zugo’s Café has served fresh Italian fare in a quaint, European style eatery tucked away in the picturesque community of Sierra Madre. Now under new ownership, Zugo’s has undergone a culinary transformation with its updated menu and seasonal focus—thanks to the talents of newly acquired French chef, Anthony Bar.

At only 30 years old, Chef Bar’s experience has already led him around the world and (lucky for us) has settled in the U.S. After culinary stints in Newport and Beverly Hills, he joined Zugo’s to add his signature French techniques to the Italian-inspired menu. “I really want this place to be where everybody can find what they like so the menu is really like a brasserie style menu,” says Bar.

Zugo’s boasts a seasonally inspired menu of delicious entrees like the succulent steak frites, hearty risotto and spicy shrimp. There’s ample to choose from, from burgers and panninis to flatbreads and pastas. The dessert menu features luscious carb-laden treats like triple chocolate mousse, lemon cheesecake and a tiramisu that is so decadent, you need to be 21+ to enjoy.

Bar explains, “The new Zugo’s is a restaurant where everyone can come—young and old, if your are in the rush or you have time. We are not a fast food, but we are not fine dining either. I think, for the quality and the price, this menu is amazing. It is the place you have to stop by.”
