The Best of the Best

Pasadena offers an assortment of riches. It’s a real restaurant town (there are more than 500), a world-class center of culture, a burgeoning tech magnet, and home to a plethora of live entertainment venues, hosting everything from sports to comedy.

If you are trying to identify the best in and around Pasadena, the abundance can make it difficult to choose. Fortunately, it also makes it almost impossible to be wrong.

In this issue we showcase some of the food, entertainment, and attractions that set Pasadena and the surrounding area apart. But you don’t have to just take our word for it: We also surveyed our readers for consensus on several categories, and we share those results on these pages.

Speaking of results and sharing, Pasadena resident Oscar De La Hoya is one of the most successful boxers ever, and—following his mother’s wishes—he has made a mission of sharing his success with the community. He sat with us to talk about those efforts.

Elsewhere you’ll find all our regular recurring coverage, including our Health & Wellness section, where we explore gua sha massage and alternative facials. For Escapes & Getaways, we skip down to Pelican Hill, up the Central Coast, and all the way to Argentina for a variety of experiences that will get you packing no matter your time frame or budget.

Back closer to home, we offer a look at the gorgeous interior design of popular new restaurant Granville, and we turn our real estate spotlight on a beautiful custom Mediterranean and a modern work of art, both in La Cañada.

Of course there is always more to discover in a city as dynamic as Pasadena, and from the truly “best” to the merely excellent, you’ll find it here.

Thanks for reading,
Cuyler
