21st Annual Jewish Book Festival closing event: Sasha Sagan lost her father Carl when she was 14, but he remains a big influence on her thinking. In these essays, Sagan, now married with a young child of her own, examines her sense of wonder in scientific exploration, the nature of belief and disbelief, Jewish tradition and the healing potential of ritual even in the context of a very secular upbringing, memory, and what you can pass on to your own child when someone you love dies. Sagan remembers not only her famous, and famously rationalist, astronomer father, but also the pivotal role her mother, much less a household name, played both at home and as the co-writer for all his shows. Sasha Sagan is a television producer, filmmaker, editor and speaker. Her work has appeared in New York Magazine; O, the Oprah Magazine, Literary Hub and other publications.
