11.25–1.8 Enchanted: Forest of Light

Visitors are invited to discover the Descanso Gardens in a new light—literally. This November, Descanso Gardens will transform into a colorful and magical enchanted forest full of wonders to explore. “Enchanted: Forest of Light is a brand-new experience at Descanso Gardens [that] will make its debut on Nov. 25th and run through January 8th,” explains Descanso Gardens Chief Operating Officer Juliann Rooke. “[It’s] a nighttime experience that amps up the magic of Descanso’s enchanting 80 acres of cultivated landscape, bathing its signature gardens and botanic collections in glorious color.”

Ideal for any age, this family-friendly, interactive light experience features Descanso’s historic oak trees and botanic collections in 10 lighting displays. Several of the displays encourage visitors to participate in the installation, including artist Jen Lewin’s interactive light sculpture, “The Pool,” which allows visitors to playfully experiment with the lights by stepping on lighted pads.

For a special treat, visitors can enjoy some snacks and “winter warmer” refreshments such as hot cocoa (or an adult beverage for the 21+ set), or dine on a delicious meal.

Mon.–Sun., 5 p.m.–10 p.m. Tickets $0–$28. Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Dr., La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011 or www.descansogardens.org.
