Many wait all year for MUSE/IQUE’s fun-filled Summer of Sound series that blends music with science and performance art. Summer of Sound is a true multidimensional experience, frequently involving music spanning a multitude genres, singing and movement, recordings, and even visual effects, that everyone of all ages can enjoy.
“Summer of Sound is a festival of music, ideas and fun. It’s a wild summer lawn party—full of mirth and mischief!” exclaims MUSE/IQUE Artistic Director Rachael Worby. “Everything takes place at Caltech —a vibrant campus at the center of Pasadena that is both beautiful and bursting with creative energy. It is impossible to leave the grounds without feeling sprung forward.”
Worby, the very definition of energy when leading her cast through a performance, is an artist and visionary in her own right and has envisioned a summer of grandeur with two upcoming performances: “American/Rhapsody” and “Summer/Time”—both a nod to legendary American composer George Gershwin. Worby acknowledges, “In these divided times, we wanted to do something that was purely about the power of coming together. There is perhaps no more unifying figure in music than Gershwin. This summer, we’re placing the power of Gershwin in a contemporary context. Our audiences can see his genius for bringing together disparate genres into one dazzlingly beautiful art form that sounds like the best of Americana.”
