Artistic director Cécilia Tsan curates thoughtful musical adventures for Mount Wilson Observatory’s Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome. Performed inside the dome of the 100-inch telescope (whose acoustics rival the great cathedrals of Europe), this program will feature music by Bach and the U.S. premiere of French composer Karol Beffa’s “Masques” for violin and cello. $50

Get into the spooky spirit at Carved, Descanso Gardens’ family-friendly event. Thousands of carved pumpkins will line the Camellia Forest as a visual treat. Activities include a hay maze, glow-in-the-dark face painting, and UV black-light experiences, as well as a Día de los Muertos installation. Tickets $20–$38

Prominent local museums and cultural institutions open their doors for complimentary admission with special programming experiences to discover. Past partner organizations include USC Pacific Asia Museum, the Gamble House, Norton Simon Museum, Alkebu-Lan Cultural Center, and Pasadena Playhouse. Free
