Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams Celebrates 30 Years of Design Innovation

Renowned lifestyle furniture brand Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams celebrates a milestone anniversary.

Thirty years ago, Mitchell Gold, a furniture buyer at Bloomingdales, and Bob Williams, an art director at Seventeen magazine, came together with a shared belief that comfort has the power to change lives. Thus, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams was born, disrupting the design world by offering clients lifetime warranties on products and promising the delivery of goods within 30 days, as well as featuring bold and patterned fabrics on upholstery as opposed to the lackluster industry standard at the time.

“We’ve never been afraid to push the boundaries and take creative risks,” says cofounder and president Bob Williams, “but we always make sure it’s comfortable, in every sense of the word.”

Since their company’s inception, the pair have gained acclaim for their collection of stylish and value-conscious modern upholstery, tables, storage pieces, lighting, rugs, accessories, bed linens, curated art, and drapery. The eponymous line is a favorite of many—the brand even made an appearance in the redecoration of the White House during President Barack Obama’s term. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams designs have also appeared on the sets of Friends, Sex and the City, The Office, The Good Wife, and This Is Us. But our favorite place to spot a Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams design will always be in our own home.
