Due to wind conditions, the Bobcat Fire is moving toward San Gabriel Valley foothill communities, including Monrovia, Bradbury, Sierra Madre, Altadena, Duarte and Pasadena. The City of Monrovia confirmed, “As of [September 14], the Bobcat Fire has burned 38,299 acres and is 3% contained. The containment area has not changed, but the fire has increased in acreage lowering the total containment. There are currently 1,091 fire personnel assigned to the fire, including 118 engines, 19 handcrews, 5 helicopters, 4 aircraft, 8 dozers and 5 water tenders.”
The USDA Forest Service and crews worked all night, implementing strategic firing operations to keep the fire from reaching Mt. Wilson and the surrounding communities.
The City of Arcadia is continuing the mandatory evacuation order for all residents north of Elkins Ave. and east of Santa Anita Ave for a second night. Residents north of Foothill Ave., south of Elkins Ave., and East of Santa Anita Ave. remain under an evacuation warning until further notice. Sierra Madre remains under an evacuation warning.
