In this fast paced tech-centric world, Sony’s Life Space UX products exemplify the perfect marriage of lifestyle and function.

For the past decade, we have been in transition to an era where basic function alone is no longer the key determining factor in what we buy. Nowadays, we seek to purchase objects that can fit seamlessly into our chaotic lives, while equally prioritizing both form and function. Given the consumer’s quest for an elevated everyday life, it makes perfect sense that tech conglomerate Sony would throw their hat into the ring with several innovative products that are must-have items for anyone seeking to upgrade their lifestyle.
Jeanne Chung, owner of Pasadena’s home décor and lifestyle boutique, Cozy•Stylish•Chic, is the only west coast purveyor of Sony Life Space UX products after a chance encounter at renowned design show, Dwell on Design. Chung recalls, “I had read through the press release on the Sony products before the show and thought they were amazing. [At the show] I ran into a friend of mine and I said, ‘Come over here, I really need to show you this product.’ So, I was demonstrating the products to him, and unbeknownst to me, there was this Sony executive who had come by and was listening. And he came up to me and asked, ‘Who are you?’”
Chung’s enthusiasm for the product was obvious, and the exec could see she understood the features and benefits. Chung knew she had piqued his interest, so she told him about her new store, and inquired about representing the line. With her design qualifications and genuine passion for the technology, she didn’t have to do much persuading and received permission to represent the brand.
“These are beautiful, high-tech elements you can carry anywhere,” Chung explains. “Especially with the portability, they’re so versatile, just think about the way we entertain.” Beautiful and beautifully functional, these three gadgets are the perfect addition to any home of the present—though their capabilities and craftsmanship are decidedly futuristic.
Glass Sound Speaker
This table light features a sleek glass design that creates crystal clear sound quality from a lustrously elegant source. The surprisingly diminutive speaker delivers the tunes of your choice to every corner of the room with superior sound quality. Easily portable, the glass sound speaker sets the mood with ambient lighting, whether you’re camping, enjoying a romantic evening, or just relaxing while taking in the warm glow, meant to replicate a lantern or candle. The minimalist design can be placed anywhere unlike clunky, oversized speakers. “For this suite of products, [Sony] wanted to concentrate on the design savvy consumer. The consumer that is not just looking at tech for the sake of performance only, but who has an interest in the aesthetics, in the design sensibility,” says Chung.
LED Bulb Speaker
This speaker-light bulb hybrid can be installed where ever standard bulbs were used, seamlessly blending illumination and sound. To ensure the mood is properly set for whatever that occasion may be, the bulbs have nearly 200 color settings with 30 plus levels of brightness, that can synchronize with music, allowing the ultimate customized sound and light experience for your home. “[Sony] wanted pieces that were beautiful but would blend in with the surroundings,” Chung explains.
Portable Ultra Short Throw Projector
Like the name suggests, this unassuming projector is entirely portable (roughly the size of a box of tissues) making it the perfect item for trips or social gatherings. But don’t let the small size fool you, this product projects up to 80” of high-resolution video on the surface of your choice—whether it be a wall or even the ceiling (perfect for movies in bed). In addition to video, the technology allows you to project time, weather and images. “They are so hassle free,” Chung emphasizes. “I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to have a household movie party but then, renting a projector, etc., it’s a major production. This, you just carry outside and that’s it.”
