LA Designer K’era Morgan Launches Line of Luxury Textiles For the Home

Los Angeles-based designer K’era Morgan launches a luxury line of prints and textiles for the home.

Growing up with a talented seamstress mother, mixed media artist K’era Morgan was exposed to textiles at an early age. “I always enjoyed the time we spent together visiting fabric shops throughout my childhood,” she says. “I was mesmerized by the bolts of fabric, primarily those that had patterns and variety of printed motifs. Little did I know I was getting an early education in the tradition of global textiles.”

Currently, Morgan collaborates with one of the few remaining American mills to transform her multimedia pieces into colorful woven throw blankets ($178) made from 100% hand-dyed cotton for home interiors, as well as throw pillows ($98) that are the perfect gifting go-to or accent to your space. Says Morgan, “I’ve had customers tell me that my blankets are the one piece of art in their home they can literally get wrapped up in regularly!”

According to Morgan, k-apostrophe’s textiles are inspired from her original artwork, evolving organically from an intuitive creative process. “When I sit down to paint, I rarely have a plan,” she explains. “Instead, I let my intuition guide the piece, from the color palette to the brush I select or the materials that I use.”

Morgan has a few things in the works for 2020, including plans to expand her product offerings with readymade tapestries (currently available via custom request). “I really am looking at focusing on my fine art, as well as collaborative projects with fellow artists, interior designers, and other brands,” says Morgan. “There are a few projects that started to percolate and I have a feeling they are going to blossom in 2020, bringing some sweet surprises.”
