Shining bright this holiday season: The Bloc DTLA. And not just due to its prime shopping and dining. Here, one of LA’s largest multi-colored interactive holiday displays is underway: Sparkle DTLA. Wowing visitors every hour on the hour (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.), 18 million hues of color come alight, bursting into a synchronized dance to seasonal tunes. Other lights joining the melange are the flashes of shoppers’ mobile phones grabbing photo opps. Hashtags to include on social media: #sparkledtla and #theblocla, of course. Catch the Sparkle DTLA extravaganza now through January 2. Admission is free and open to humans and furry friends alike.
Prefer spending more time enjoying holiday vibes and less time searching for gifts? No problem. Take advantage of the personal shopper/stylist services available through Macy’s and Nordstrom Local. An even faster route: placing orders in advance for curbside pick-up.
Spice up in-person shopping by adding some signature holiday activities from The Bloc. Bringing on holiday feels is a December 12, 4 p.m. screening of the film “Elf” at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. A gift from Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to attendees: one free popcorn and beverage (water or soda).
Spirits of another sort come into play on December 18 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the HATCH’s Holiday Mixology Class featuring NIKKA Whisky. Grab a ticket ($55) to this cheer-worthy event where participants age 21+ learn how to create two cocktails just right for the holidays: a NIKKA Whisky Cocktail and a HATCH Signature Cocktail.
The perfect follow-up to any visit to The Bloc is savoring a meal at dining venues such as District, JOEY DTLA, HATCH, and Marugame Udon. Create around-the-family table memories at District with Carving Board menu items like Roasted Cage-Free Chicken, Herbed Grilled New York Steak, Sticky Ribs, and Grilled Atlantic Salmon. JOEY DTLA transports diners around the globe with entrees like their Bollywood Butter Chicken and Steak Frites. Combining flavor with fun are yakitori selections (Mmmm, the Mushroom Party…) from HATCH. Not to be left out, comfort food at Marugame Udon, like the Curry Nikutama udon.
Tidings of Comfort and Joy… Yep, those and more are in store this holiday season at The Bloc DTLA.
